Being a truematter User Experience (UX) Lead

A User Experience (UX) Lead at truematter researches, plans, architects, and cultivates the user experience design for digital products (sites, apps, and software).

This role devises interaction strategies in sync with user goals and clients’ business goals, defines UX requirements, develops product structure and navigation, prepares wireframes and/or interactive prototypes, and works collaboratively with the project team. The UX Lead all also organize, facilitate, and perform usability assessments and user tests.

A UX Lead tirelessly advocates for real users. The best candidate will possess outstanding creativity, a highly detailed nature, and a near-preternatural ability to define and solve complex user interface problems.

Responsibilities

Conceive, Plan, and Lead the design of high-end, effective digital products.

Define digital strategies from a user perspective. Create or assist with information architecture and UX design for complex interactive projects. Produce site maps, wireframes, prototypes, and UX requirements documentation.

Be a zealous user advocate.

Continually cultivate enviable expertise in user experience design and people-centered digital products.

Communicate externally and internally.

Facilitate internal team communication, bridging the gap between visual design, functional development, and content strategy. Grow to lead client engagements from a UX perspective.

Required Skills

Mastery of the Interactive-Project Process

Thorough knowledge and experience planning, documenting and leading interactive projects based on UX best practices. Ability to interact with front-end and back-end developers.

Adept with UX Deliverables

Must demonstrate enviable skills with standard UX deliverables.

Savvy Client Interaction

An outgoing personality and ability to interact excellently with clients.

A Creative Eye

This is a strongly creative position. You must be able to translate complex concepts and interactions into visually coherent wireframes and/or prototypes.

UX Writing Ability

You must be able to communicate UX concepts to clients and must be able to write succinct UX requirements documentation.

Software Proficiency

We are looking for strong proficiency/expertise in UX prototyping tools, particularly AXURE. Experience in remote user testing tools is a distinct plus.

Code Familiarity

Be strongly familiar with workhorse coding standards (e.g., HTML/CSS). Ability to code is a plus but not required.

Education

A BA or higher in one of the following fields is preferred:

  • Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
  • User Experience, Digital Product Design, or Related Degree
  • Library or Information Science
  • Psychology
  • Computer Science

Experience

At least 2–3 years in a user experience position. If you lack this, you must WOW us with your innate understanding of digital product design and beyond-outstanding ability to grasp and execute the position’s requirements.
